Unit Plan Remixed Canvas

          My remixed Unit Plan Canvas is one that I think would work well. The students will be collaborating with a Science class that is studying climates and weather. I think that by collaborating with this subject area I can have my students not only learn about the different weather patterns and climates that exist, but then they can go further with the French subject area and begin to study different climate patterns and weather in different French speaking countries around the world such as France, Haiti, Morocco, French Polynesia, etc. By doing this, I think that it will work as a great bridge between the two subjects that the students can simultaneously work and learn about the two different subject areas in one single project. I can then teach my students the French terms for different weather patterns and climates. The students can then go as far as to do incorporate weather terminology and climate into their project where they will be discussing traveling to a Francophone country. This will work as a great way for me to be able to do a French lesson/unit on weather and climate and teach them the necessary vocabulary. The technology comes into play in the fact that the students can use the Internet to research different weather maps and different weather patterns for their country/region! The students will still, like in the first canvas, be making an online poster to present their work, so this whole weather/climate remix will just act as a supplementary part of the project, and an addition that they can put onto their travel posters.

  1. The 'What do you think?" widget was not working for me so I will comment here. As your colleague, I definitely liked the layout of your canvas. I appreciated the link you posted to learn the French vocabulary words you would need for the unit and I thought the video you posted did a good job listing some leisure activities that could be used to answer your second reflection question. However, I think that if you were to expand your canvas to name some more countries where French is spoken besides Switzerland it would do a better job increasing awareness of the unit for your students. This could be done easily with some more visuals and/or video clips. By doing this, the students would be able to answer the first reflection question more confidently and easily as they would be more aware of the different regions and countries that utilize the French language.
